Dixie State College is an institute with a pioneering spirit that has increasingly taken on the vital role in the economic development of Southern Utah. Dedicated to helping students define and achieve academic goals, they provide personalized and powerful teaching in an environment that encourages students to become passionate about learning.

Established in 1911, the college opened as a result of great sacrifices made by the LDS church members to raise money for the building. Initially, it was called the LDS Stake Academy, and consisted of only 42 students who partook of a limited curriculum. Sustained and strengthened by the support of the St. George community, today, the college has Baccalaureate status and an enrollment number of nearly 9,000 students.

The primary campus for Dixie State College is located in St. George, across 117 acres of land. There is also a Hurricane Education Extension Center located in Hurricane, Utah that provides some general courses of study. Plus, a number of classes are offered online via Blackboard Vista.
